Created in collaboration with the fan-led art project Call Me Ted, this limited-edition jersey celebrates the rich history and modern community of Ipswich while supporting a vital local cause.

A Tudor Map of Modern Ipswich

Designed by Steve Haugh, co-founder of Call Me Ted, the all-over black-and-white print is inspired by the town’s Tudor era and the early ambitions of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. The artwork brilliantly reimagines modern-day Ipswich through the lens of a classic, hand-drawn Tudor map.

If you look closely at the intricate line art, you can spot several key details:

• Historic Landmarks: Nods to local history, prominently featuring Wolsey’s Gate alongside traditional church towers.

• Local Haunts: Iconic town fixtures and establishments, such as The Black Horse pub.

• Modern Touches: Contemporary additions—like a “Halo” arena and a building sporting a giant octopus mural—blend seamlessly with the vintage map aesthetic.

• Kit Details: The shirt features a clean white base with the club’s crest, a prominent “msc” front sponsor, and a dedicated, embroidered “Call Me Ted” patch.

Playing for the Community

This bespoke shirt was commissioned specifically for the club’s annual Foundation Fixture (debuting during the warm-ups ahead of a home clash against Millwall).

Funded by club supporter Richard Buss, the collaboration aims to highlight and raise funds for the Ipswich Town Foundation. The Foundation provides crucial community support across Suffolk, funding and running programs like disability football, girls’ football, and walking football.

Because this is a specialized warm-up kit for the first-team squad, it isn’t part of the standard retail line at the club shop. Instead, match-worn and player-issued shirts—printed with the players’ names and numbers—are signed and auctioned off.

Funds raised through these auctions go directly back into the Ipswich Town Foundation, making this shirt a rare collector’s item that directly gives back to the local community.
