Traditionally Bristol Rovers play in blue and white quartered shirts for home fixtures although their first ever home shirt back in 1883 was black with a gold coloured sash when they were known as Black Arabs FC.

During the 2008-09 season the club released a special third kit based on the Black Arabs shirt to celebrate their 125th anniversary.

In 2005, as an April fools prank the club revealed that their new away kit would be coloured pink, a large number of supporters requested the club actually produced the kit and so the club made a limited number with profit from the shirt sales donated to a breast cancer charity.
