Women’s football kit news as this morning Bristol City women have announced that they will swap their white shorts for red ones for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
Wearing white shorts whilst on a period can increase an athletes anxiety and so the club have made the decision to swap to red shorts to reduce the players anxiety and improve performance.
Bristol City Women’s captain Aimee Palmer said: “We’re going to play our best football when we’re in the best mindset and that’s the main reason for the change.
“This started off as an internal discussion but now we’re seeing other teams in the women’s game starting to make the change, which encouraged us even more to make it a reality.
“We’ve already had a lot of support internally which has been really important for us – Bristol City is one team.”
The clubs Head Coach Lauren Smith said: “The confidence and comfort of our players is crucial to get the best result when we step out onto the pitch.
“We’re proud to be able to support this change and hopefully we can inspire others to start these conversations and make positive steps in women’s football.”
Bristol City Women join the Lionesses and Manchester City Women in opting to change away from white shorts.
