Vasco da Gama have unveiled their new 2026-27 third kit, with Nike delivering one of the most distinctive designs of the Brazilian football season.

Officially launched under the campaign “Nascida do Vento” – “Born from the Wind”, the new Vasco da Gama third shirt moves away from the club’s traditional black and white colours in favour of a pale yellow design inspired by the club’s historic maritime identity.
Vasco da Gama 2026-27 Third Shirt Inspired by the Sails
The unusual yellow colour has a deeper meaning than simply providing Vasco with an alternative look.

Nike and Vasco have taken inspiration from the sails of historic ships, connecting the shirt with the nautical imagery that has been part of the club’s identity for generations. The concept also links those sails with Vasco’s supporters – just as wind drives a ship forward, the noise and passion generated by the fans is portrayed as the force that pushes the team onwards.
It is a clever concept that allows Nike to create something dramatically different while retaining a strong connection to Vasco da Gama’s history.
Pale Yellow, Black and the Famous Red Cross
The Vasco da Gama 2026-27 Nike third kit features a predominantly pale yellow body with contrasting black details.

A simple black-trimmed V-neck collar is joined by black sleeve cuffs and dark detailing down the sides of the shirt. Nike’s famous Swoosh appears in black on the right side of the chest.
Providing the standout splash of colour is Vasco’s instantly recognisable red Cross of Malta, positioned prominently on the opposite side.
Nike has chosen not to use Vasco’s famous diagonal sash on the third shirt. Instead, the stripped-back design allows the Cross of Malta and unusual sail-inspired colourway to become the defining features.
There is another heritage reference hidden inside the collar, where an image of the Vasco caravela recalls the ship featured within the club’s crest and further develops the maritime theme.
Nike Begins a New Chapter With Vasco da Gama
The shirt forms part of an important new era for Vasco following the club’s move to Nike for 2026.
The partnership brought an end to Vasco’s previous spell with Kappa and represents a significant new chapter for the Brazilian club. The third shirt demonstrates that Nike is prepared to explore Vasco da Gama’s considerable visual and cultural history rather than simply producing a conventional change strip.
The performance version of the shirt also incorporates Nike Dri-FIT ADV technology, providing the technical construction expected from the brand’s elite-level football shirts.
“Nascida do Vento”
The accompanying launch campaign is an important part of the story behind the kit.
Created around the relationship between wind, movement, sails and supporters, “Nascida do Vento” presents Vasco’s fans as the energy that continually drives the club forward.
That theme can be seen throughout the dramatic launch photography, with huge sail-like fabrics providing the backdrop as the yellow shirt takes centre stage.
It gives what could initially appear to be a relatively simple Nike design considerably more meaning.
A Very Different Vasco da Gama Third Kit
Third shirts provide clubs with an opportunity to experiment, and Nike has certainly taken advantage of that freedom with Vasco.
The combination of pale sail yellow, black detailing and the red Cross of Malta creates a shirt that is immediately recognisable without relying on Vasco’s traditional home colours or diagonal sash.
More importantly, the design doesn’t feel disconnected from the club. The colour, internal caravela graphic and “Born from the Wind” campaign all trace back to Vasco da Gama’s maritime heritage.
The result is a modern alternative shirt with a strong historical story behind it and another eye-catching addition to the growing collection of 2026-27 football kits.
