Football kit news from England as Tottenham Hotspur have introduced legacy numbers to honour every player that has made a senior competitive appearance for the club.

Every player that has played for Spurs since their first ever senior competitive match against West Herts back on 13 October 1894 will be assigned a unique legacy number in chronological order of when they made their Spurs debuts.

To date 879 legacy numbers have been assigned to Tottenham players past and present including Bill Nicholson (#354), Danny Blanchflower (#420), Jimmy Greaves (#448), Pat Jennings (#455), Steve Perryman (#477), Glenn Hoddle (#498), Ossie Ardiles (#511), Gary Mabbutt (#538), Ledley King (#649), Gareth Bale (#726), Harry Kane (#767) and Heung-Min Son (#805).

From Friday 27th October 2023 the Tottenham shirts will have their unique legacy number on the back of their shirts just beneath the collar.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “Our legacy number initiative is our way of recognising the contributions of those that have worn our colours with pride during our Club’s long and rich history, making a truly unique connection between players of our past, present and future.”
