Football kit news from the English Premier League as today Tottenham Hotspur celebrates 100 years to the day since the club first wore the famous cockerel on their shirts.
It was the 1921 FA Cup Final on 23rd April when Spurs beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 to lift the trophy thanks to a goal from Jimmy Dimmock.
Rumour has it that the Tottenham players featured the cockerel on their shirts for the start of the match but got so muddy in the first half, which was briefly suspended due to torrential rain, the players returned to the pitch in the second half with plain football shirts.
Tottenham today are launching a campaign to celebrate the famous cockerel which will culminate in the club wearing the new 2021-22 Nike home kit for the final home fixture of the season against Aston Villa.
Special edition shirts will be worn by the players featuring wording acknowledging the centenary of the Spurs cockerel.
Leaked images show that the first cockerel used by the club will appear inside the neckline of the 2021-22 Tottenham Hotspur home shirt.
