League One side Gillingham have sacked their kitman after he forgot to bring the Gills away shirts to Stadium MK prior to Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to MK Dons.
Gillingham were just 15 minutes away from taking to the pitch in training shirts with the players numbers printed on the back after they were approved by the referee.
Fortunately the Gillingham away shirts turned up just quarter of an hour prior to kickoff but unfortunately the error still cost Bob Lewin his job after he left the jerseys back in Kent.
Malcolm Stedman, who retired from the Gills backroom staff at the end of the 2015-16 season has returned to the club as kitman for the remainder of the season.
