Custom Shirts With The Football Gal

Whilst checking Twitter late last year The Kitman noticed some unique football shirts.

At first he thought he had drunk one too many festive beverages, but on second glance he noticed that classic football shirts had been given a makeover with floral designs.

All the major teams in Europe including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSG, AC Milan and um Tottenham (I’m a Spurs supporter) had received the floral treatment as well as Providence City FC an amateur soccer club who are becoming well known on Twitter for their classy kits.

The Kitman wanted to know more about these stunning customised football shirts and so interviewed the lovely Football Gal (Diana) to find out more.

1. What gave you the idea to customise the shirts?

I’ve been toying with the idea for more than a year and I finally decided to execute it. I’ve always liked football shirts but I thought they were missing something. I have a lot of shirts in my closet that I wasn’t wearing often because of that reason. They didn’t look beautiful enough to be worn on their own, I had to accessorise them somehow and it was becoming a pain. So I just decided to make the shirts a lot more wearable and aesthetically pleasing as well.

2. What’s your inspiration behind the designs, are they specific to the club?

They’re not specific to any club in particular. I just customise them based on the colours of the shirt and what will look great on it. From florals to rhinestones and lace, whatever that looks good in my eyes then it’s going on the shirt.

3. What materials do you use?

I use rhinestones, lace, beads, floral embroideries, etc.

4. Are the shirts aimed at anybody in particular or just for fun?

They’re just for fun really. I like football shirts and I like fashion so I decided to mix the two.

5. How long do they take to do?

They usually take about 2 hours in total to envision what I’m going to do with the shirt, plan it then work on it. But that really depends on the shirt and what kind of design I’m going for. Sometimes it takes less than 2 hours, sometimes more.

6 Are they expensive to make?

Yeah, they are somewhat expensive. I have to buy all the materials and sometimes they’re not cheap. I try to find good deals online or in craft stores, but oftentimes they are still a little on the pricey side.

7. Will they be made available to buy?

So those shirts that I have already designed are for my own use. However, I’m currently taking commissions! Anyone can send their football shirt to me and I will customise it for them however they want (or they can choose one of the deigns I already made), then I’ll send it back to them.

8. Are there more ideas in the pipeline?

Absolutely! But I’ll leave those for 2018 instead
