Today Coventry City will wear a replica of their 1987 football kit in the 3rd round of the FA Cup against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
The Sky Blues will be wearing the blue and white striped shirt to celebrate their 1987 FA Cup win against Tottenham, 25 years ago.
Coventry City boss Mark Robins said,
“That was a special day for our supporters and that kit evokes memories”
“It’s not every day that you play Tottenham Hotspur and it’s a big game because the FA Cup is a big deal.
“We obviously want to stay in every competition for as long as we possible can because the aim is to win every competition you enter. You’re realistic of course and we know we will be going into the game as massive underdogs.
“If we can go there and get something out of the game then fantastic but we just want to give a good account of ourselves against opposition containing some of the best players in Europe.”
The 1987 Coventry Shirt will be an exact replica apart from the club crest an Puma’s logo.
The shirt will also feature a special swing ticket made up of a replica FA Cup ticket. £2.50 from every shirt sale will be donated to the Former Players Association.
