News from The Championship as Birmingham City will have a different ‘back of the shirt’ sponsor for tomorrow’s match against Newcastle United at St Andrews.
No5 Barristers Chambers who have sponsored the back of the Birmingham City shirts for the past two seasons have donated their advertising space on the players jerseys and pitch side hoardings to ‘Headway’, the brain injury association to help raise funds and awareness of the charity.
Headway will have their logo on the lower back of the players shirts whilst the match day mascots will have the Headway logo on their chests.
Headway Ambassador, Team GB Paralympian and Cerebral Palsy Football Captain Jack Rutter will be the special guest for the fixture and will be interviewed at half time.
Rutter was an 18 year old Birmingham City youth player who was set to sign his first professional contract, to celebrate he and his friends went to a nightclub in Gloucester. In an unprovoked attack outside the club, someone punched Jack in the back of the head causing him to fall and hit his head on the curb.
Jack had suffered a life changing brain injury when he woke up from a coma. His dreams of becoming a professional footballer were over but showing great courage and determination Jack went on to captain the GB Football Team at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro last Summer.
