Football shirt news from La Liga in Spain as the new Atletico Madrid 2021-22 Nike kits have been officially unveiled this morning.
For the upcoming season Atletico Madrid will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of their current name, Club Atlético de Madrid after if was changed from Atlético-Aviación on January 1st 1947.
The 2021-22 Atletico Madrid home shirt is inspired by the first worn by the club after their name change in 1947 and sees a white centre stripe with a red brushstroke effect stripes either side joined in the middle via a red horizontal stripe forming a large ‘A’ on the front of the jersey.
The collar and cuffs are coloured red whilst the Nike logo on the right breast and the Plus500 shirt sponsor are coloured white.
On the left breast is the Athletic Madrid badge.
On the back of the neck is the Spanish flag.
Blue shorts and socks complete the 2021-22 home kit.
The 2021-22 Atletico Madrid away shirt is inspired by the away jersey worn during the 1995-96 season when the club completed the double winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
The jersey is navy with a red smoke effect diagonal pattern on the lower half of the front.
Both the Nike logo and the club badge are coloured red whilst the shirt sponsor is coloured white.
The 2021-22 Atletico Madrid third shirt is inspired by the clubs old stadium the Vicente Calderón and sees a blue jersey featuring alternate red and white squares making in the collar, cuffs and side panels, representing the seats at the historic stadium.
Inside the neckline is an image of the Vicente Calderón.
Finally the Atletico Madrid fourth shirt 2021-22 is predominantly red with the club crest used in 1946 coinciding with the name change.
Both the Nike logo and shirt sponsor are coloured white.
Above the centre of the chest is the slogan ‘75 Years Honouring Your Name’ coloured white.
